Captain John Manago
I would like to welcome you to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division section. As the division captain, I have the distinction of providing general management and direction for the division.
The Patrol Division consists of Uniformed Patrol, Communications Center, and Special Operations, which includes Traffic Safety, Fairgrounds Operations (The Ranch), and Tactical Support (SWAT). The division is comprised of approximately 95 dedicated employees both certified and non-certified, who are tasked with providing law enforcement and dispatch services to the citizens of unincorporated Larimer County.
Larimer County Colorado is located along the northern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The county is approximately 2,600 square miles and is comprised of both urban and rural mountainous areas. Due to the unique location and size of the county, providing law enforcement services is a challenging endeavor. The law enforcement jurisdiction is broken down into 7 districts. Districts 1 through 5 are known as our "Valley Patrol" due to the fact that this area is comprised of the urban areas of the county to include the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland. Our Mountain Squad is made up of Districts 6 and 7, which constitutes the majority of our rural mountainous areas. District 6 covers the Estes Valley and operates out of a satellite office, while District 7 covers the Red Feathers, Livermore and Glacier View areas. The Patrol Division is also tasked with providing contracted law enforcement services to the citizens of the Town of Wellington.
Because of the size of our agency, we are able to actively engage with members of the community in the problem solving process, as well as to provide diverse opportunities for our employees to receive specialized training. Many of these specialized assignments will be highlighted throughout the Patrol Division section. Some of these speciality areas include:
- Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT/Negotiations)
- Crime Scene Technician
- Bomb Squad
- Firearms Instructor
- Arrest Control/Tactics Instructor
- East Mulberry Corridor Task Force
In order to achieve our goals, it is imperative that all members of the division work within a common Mission Statement.
Patrol Division Mission Statement
"The Patrol Division's mission is public safety. We are committed to working with our community to develop and maintain a safe atmosphere in whcih we can live, work, play, and raise our families. To accomplish our mission we will be data driven, technology based, and engage the community in the problem solving process."
I encourage you to look through the other sections of this web site. I believe you will see not only the outstainding work we do, but also the high caliber of people who are committed to making our county a safe environment for our citizens and visitors.
