The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team investigators would like to take this opportunity to correct preliminary information released about the officer-involved shooting involving the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office on June 30, 2017.

In our efforts to quickly make the public aware of a critical incident involving law enforcement, the initial press release was published with preliminary information.  That press release stated the incident began when deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle.  The investigation thus far has shown that information was not correct.  Investigators now know deputies did respond to the area of Highway 392 and County Road 9 after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident and the suspect vehicle was confirmed stolen.  Deputies pursued the suspect on foot in a field during which one deputy fired a weapon striking the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.  All information released about this incident is available at http://larimersheriff.org/press-release/update-%E2%80%93-lcso-officer-involved-shooting-june-30-2017.
