Operation New Dawn Results

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith was quite pleased with the successful results from the first Operation New Dawn special enforcement operation held last Saturday, August 4 in the East Mulberry Corridor. The operation included numerous law enforcement agencies from Larimer County and met the key goal of making law enforcement's presence well known. It was the first of what is expected to be numerous special enforcement operations in the area.
The operation resulted in nine arrests including five warrant arrests (clearing six warrants), two Driving under the Influence of Drugs arrests, a Driving under the Influence of Alcohol arrest as well as one arrest for Driving under Suspension. A vehicle reported stolen from Colorado Springs was also recovered during the special enforcement operation.
There were 63 traffic contacts where 55 verbal and two written warnings were issued as well as one citation, one summons and the arrests.
Saturday night's action was part of an overall program designed to address the amount and type of criminal activity occurring in the East Mulberry Corridor, defined as the area on Mulberry Street from Timberline east to County Road 5. Dubbed "Operation New Dawn" this long-term, multi-year program, which began earlier this year, will include as its objectives community outreach, education and involvement as well as coordination of other government resources and services in addition to criminal investigation and enforcement.
The charge(s) are merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
